چکیده

brassinosteroids are phytohormones possessing a wide spectrum of antistress activity. to seewhether this hormone is able to ameliorate the effects of water stress, the effects of 24-epibrassinolise onplant growth, accumulation of osmolytes (proline, sugars and ions), lipid peroxidation and electrolyte leakagewere investigated in colza (brassica napus l. cv. fusia) plants which were under water stress. the seedswere sown in plastic pots containing sand, clay and peat (in a proportion of 1:1:1). solution of 24-epibrassinolidat 10-7 m concentration containing 0.01% tween-20 (polyoxyethylene sorbitan) was sprayed onleaves at intervals of 1, 2 and 3 weeks after sowing. control plants were sprayed with 0.01% tween-20, andwater treatment was applied 26 days after germination, withholding water for 3 or 4 days. one month aftersowing, plants were harvested. lipid peroxidation and electrolyte leakage significantly increased under waterstress, but when plants were pretreated with 24-epibrassinolid and put under water stress these parametersdecreased, revealing that less oxidative damage occurred in this group. proline and reduced sugars contentwas increased when 24-epibrassinolide were applied. fw and dw were significantly decreased under waterstress. water stress also increased the uptake of k and ca, but the uptake of na significantly decreased. 24- epibrassinolide considerably increased ions uptake by plants. taken together, these results showed that 24- epibrassinolide alleviated the effects of water stress and increased the tolerance of plants to stress byincreasing osmolytes accumulation and therefore could be used to improve crops in harsh conditions.

Some Biochemical Parameters of Brassica napus L

s: Chromium is one of the unessential heavy metal that makes high toxicity in the plants. The aim of this study was assaying the changes that come from toxicity of (Cr ) on some biochemical, physiological and 6+ ionic specification of Brassica napus variety sari flower. The tests were conducted at hydro ionic conditions and at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 μm concentration of K CrO with four repeats in...

Modulation of jasmonic acid and polyamines by 24-epibrassinolide in Brassica juncea L. under copper stress

It has been widely reported in literature that brassinosteroids play a pivotal role in stress mitigation in plants. The present study was undertaken to assess the effect of 24-epibrasssinolide (24-EpiBR) on the growth, endogenous levels of total sugars, reducing sugars and plant growth regulators (PGRs) such as jasmonic acid and polyamines (PAs) like spermine, spermidine, putrescine and cadaver...

Identification of Candidate Genes for Calcium and Magnesium Accumulation in Brassica napus L. by Association Genetics

Calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) are essential plant nutrients and vital for human and animal nutrition. Biofortification of crops has previously been suggested to alleviate widespread human Ca and Mg deficiencies. In this study, new candidate genes influencing the leaf accumulation of Ca and Mg were identified in young Brassica napus plants using associative transcriptomics of ionomics datasets...

Responses of agronomic components of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) as influenced by deficit irrigation, water salinity and planting method

Shortage and salinity of irrigation water are two major constraints that influence rapeseed production in arid and semi-arid regions of central and southern Iran. In this study, effects of deficit irrigation with different salinity levels and planting methods (in-furrow and on-ridge) as strategies for coping with water and salinity stresses on yield and yield quality of rapeseed were invest...

Characterization of Growth, Water Relations, and Proline Accumulation in Sodium Sulfate Tolerant Callus of Brassica napus L. cv Westar (Canola).

Unselected and sodium sulfate tolerant callus cultures of Brassica napus L. cv Westar were grown on media supplemented with mannitol, NaCl, or Na(2)SO(4). In all cases, growth of tolerant callus, measured on a fresh weight or dry weight basis, was greater than that of unselected callus, which was also subject to necrosis on high levels of salt. Tissue water potential became more negative in bot...
